Job Description:
The Position
East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is seeking to fill
three (3) part-time Human Resources Intern I positions within the
Office of Diversity, Equity, and Culture (ODEC). These internships
offer valuable experience in supporting diversity, equity, and
inclusion (DEI) programs and workforce development strategies.
There are two (2) positions in the Diversity and Inclusion Office
(DIO) and one (1) position in ODEC Administration. These roles will
be part-time during the academic year and may transition to
full-time during summer and school breaks.EBMUD, headquartered in
Oakland, is an environmentally and socially progressive, publicly
owned utility providing drinking water service to approximately 1.4
million customers in 20 cities and 16 unincorporated communities in
portions of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and wastewater
treatment services for more than 740,000 customers in the East

provide positive role models within the local community.DIO Human
Resources Interns will primarily assist in the administration of
the EBMUD High School Summer Internship (HSSI) Program; and will
also support other post-secondary internships, community
partnerships, and diversity outreach programs coordinated through

Intern I may be offered the opportunity to continue their
employment after the summer.Sample duties for all HR Interns
include the following:* Organize, coordinate, and/or technically
produce virtual and in-person orientations, training sessions,
culture-building events, and/or activities* Research, analyze data,
and write reports* Provide excellent customer service and support
to EBMUD staff, external vendors, and community partners* Assist in
the preparation of materials for internship and/or DEI programs*
Collaborate and communicate with subject matter experts in visual,
oral, and written formOrganization-specific sample duties include:*
DIO HR Interns (2 positions):* Coordinate internship recruitment
and outreach efforts* Update, modify, and format presentations and
outreach flyers * Monitor email inboxes, respond to staff requests,
schedule meetings, and assist with other administrative tasks to
support the HSSI program using a variety of programs (e.g., Excel,
Intranet, Word, Oracle, Canva, etc.)* Review and screen HSSI intern
applications* Provide resources and mentoring support to high
school interns* Support the DIO's long-term workforce development
strategy, including enhanced outreach such as attending career
fairs and/or developing online/social media content to promote
mission-critical and/or underutilized career opportunities* ODEC
Admin HR Intern (1 position):* Assist in the EBMUD-wide rollout and
refinement of the Equity Toolkit, which is used to promote equity
in hiring, promotions, procurement, and community engagement.*
Collaborate on the design and delivery of DEI training sessions for
employees, focusing on areas like unconscious bias and inclusive
leadership.* Maintain the DEI Metrics Dashboard, which tracks key
performance indicators (KPIs) related to hiring, retention, and
promotions by demographic categories.* Support initiatives to
foster an inclusive workplace culture through employee engagement
activities.These positions may offer some hybrid schedule
opportunities, however throughout the entire internship, the Human
Resources Intern Is are expected to be available for on-site work
in Oakland, CA, and throughout the EBMUD Service Area.EBMUD is an

Requirements
Junior or Senior student currently enrolled at an accredited
college or university.PREFERRED ABILITIES* Excellent interpersonal
communication; ability to build rapport & maintain effective

customer service orientation* Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Outlook* Ability to use online meeting and
collaboration tools* Excellent written and verbal skills* Ability
to research and write reports* Excellent analytical and
problem-solving skills* Experience in organizing events/activities*
Experience facilitating programs for high school and college-age
youth* Excellent attention to detail* Ability to maintain
confidentiality and handle sensitive personnel information.
